Mrs. Ashley Perkins
Enrollment and Community Growth Director,
Sunshine Schools NC

With a 12-year tenure in childcare, primarily in leadership roles, my educational background spans from an Early Childhood and Childcare Administration Credential in NC to specialized certifications in Washington State. My journey has taken me from NC to Washington State and back, driven by my family’s military commitments. Now, back in our home state, my family and I relish creating cherished memories, as I continue to advance my educational pursuits.

Ms. Sandra
Arasim
School Administrator/Director,
Sunshine Scholars Academy - New Bern

With over 30 years dedicated to early childhood education, my journey began as a legislative aide on Capitol Hill, where I contributed to shaping many of the early childhood education federal standards that are still in effect today.

Holding both a BA and a Master’s in Public Policy/Public Administration, I’m currently completing an additional Master’s Certificate at UNCG. Throughout my career, I’ve collaborated with organizations like NC Babies First, NAEYC in both NY and NC, the North Carolina Infant Toddler Project, and Craven Smart Start.

My passion led me to establish and direct a nationally recognized nature-based program in New York, marking the beginning of my hands-on work in early childhood education. Since then, I’ve directed four separate programs in New York. Now, I’m excited to bring my experience to Sunshine Scholars Academy in North Carolina, where I look forward to a long and fulfilling journey.

As a certified trainer, I’m honored to present at three national conferences this summer. I strive to bring positive energy to our team every day, fostering an environment where both staff and families feel supported and inspired.

With over 35 years of experience in early childhood education, including leadership roles, I hold in-depth certifications in Early Childhood and Childcare Administration. My journey started in Grifton, NC, where I was born and raised as a proud local country girl. As a military spouse, I’ve had the privilege of traveling the world—visiting places like Japan, Hong Kong, Guam, Tokyo, Hawaii, California, and Virginia. These experiences have broadened my perspective, enabling me to celebrate diverse cultures and incorporate them into my teaching philosophy. As I continue to inspire and guide young minds, I am deeply committed to fostering an environment where children feel safe, loved, and ready to grow.
